Description:

Magna Graecia, western colonies, ca. 5th to 4th century BCE. An elegant female figure, possibly representing the goddess Kybele (Cybele), mother of the gods, sitting with impressive posture, both hands placed upon her knees. She is dressed in a fine polos and chiton, the draperies of which cascade over her seated body, and diadem upon her coiffure with hair framing her face and falling past her shoulders. This piece was probably once painted bright colors. Size: 3.625" W x 8.625" H (9.2 cm x 21.9 cm)
