Description:

Roman and Ancient Near East, North Africa, Mali, Imperial period through early Islamic periods, ca. 200 to 900 CE. A striking strand of 39 hand-formed glass beads from the North African Roman Empire as well as periods of early Islamic rule. The beads are shaped in spherical, tubular, and multi-bodied forms in a multitude of vibrant colors, with some bearing feathered patterns, others with striped bars, and others made from canes of mosaic glass. Size (strand): 16" L (40.6 cm); (largest bead): 0.625" W x 0.6" H (1.6 cm x 1.5 cm).
