Northern Europe, Viking / Rus culture, ca. 800 to 1100 CE. A stunning solid silver ring comprised of a thin band that is integral with a circular face. The top section has a series of lightly-incised details, all of which are inlaid with a tasteful amount of gold. The bottom of the face has an "X" set inside a shield with an oblong dot flanking either side. Two C-shaped grooves rest along the lateral sides of a shallow central dot. Above the center are two Viking runes, one is an R (rehit) and the other an incomplete U (hur), both inlaid with gold. This is a fantastic wearable example of beautiful Viking silver jewelery! Size: 0.875" Diameter (2.2 cm); US ring size: 9.75; total weight: 5.6 grams.
