Description:

Northern Europe, Scandinavia, Viking or Norse culture, ca. 9th to 11th century CE. high quality silver pendant depicting Mjolnir, the legendary hammer of Thor, god of thunder. The pendant is decorated with small hourglass-shaped impressions on the front, and the handle is folded and curved inward to form an integral suspension loop, allowing it to still be worn on a cord or chain today. Such pendants were popular among Viking communities as symbols of protection and strength, often worn to invoke Thor's power. Mjolnir amulets like this one became especially widespread during the Viking Age, reflecting both religious devotion and cultural identity, as they were often used as symbols of defiance against the spread of Christianity. Size: 1.33" L x 0.6" W (3.4 cm x 1.5 cm); silver quality: 87% to 90.11%; weight: 5.6 grams.
