Northern Europe, Viking or Norse culture, ca. 8th to 11th century CE. A beautiful ensemble of 23 beads comprised of either near-opaque, pale-green glass, brown glass, or opaque cobalt-blue glass. The green glass beads are nearly spherical in form and accentuated with smaller circles of white, brown, or red glass. Some of the blue glass beads have faceted exterior surfaces. All are mounted in an alternating chromatic pattern on a modern sterling silver chain. A beautiful and wearable example of ancient Viking glasswork! Size: 30" L (76.2 cm); largest bead is: 0.4" W (1 cm)
