Description:

Northern Europe, Viking/Norse period, ca. 9th to 11th century CE. A beautiful bronze bracelet with stamped decorations on the surface and animal-headed terminals. The heads are abstract, with rounded ears and long noses, perhaps representing horses, a very common animal form in Viking art. The face is incised to have lines that suggest reins. A very wearable piece! Size: 3.2" W x 0.6" H (8.1 cm x 1.5 cm); bracelet opening is 1.1" (2.8 cm)

Provenance: private Los Angeles County, California, USA collection formed over the period between 1980 and 2000
