Ancient Southeast Asia, Vietnam, Dong Son culture, ca. late 1st millennium BCE. A lovely grouping of cast-bronze artifacts from the ancient Vietnamese Dong Son culture. First is a pair of leaf-shaped attachments, each with a petaloid body and suspension loops along the curved end as well as on the verso, perhaps for attaching to a wearable garment or a sizable container of personal items. Next is a compact axe head with a curved blade head that is slightly pointed on both sides, all above an ovoid socketing shaft. Last is a trio of petite spherical bells, each with an integral suspension bale. Thick layers of brown and green patina envelop the surfaces of each piece. Size of largest: 6.1" L x 1.8" W (15.5 cm x 4.6 cm)

- Condition: Repair to tip of wider leaf-form attachment with light adhesive residue along break line. Small perforations to one side of axe head along central body. Each piece has abrasions and encrustations commensurate with age, with slight bending to overall forms, and small chips to bottom rim of socketing shaft of axe head. Great patina throughout.
