Pre-Columbian, Northern Mexico, Casas Grandes, Ramos Polychrome type, ca. 1150 to 1450 CE. A beautiful coil-made and hand-painted polychrome terracotta bowl with a rounded base, and a wide body that gradually narrows to resolve in a flared rim. The intricate interlocking linear and geometric shapes are stylistically designated as Ramos, characterized by hues of solid black outlining a few red areas, all atop a cream-hued ground. Ramos is considered the pinnacle of aesthetic achievement for Casas Grandes ceramics - exemplified by this bold piece! Size: 8" Diameter x 8" H (20.3 cm x 20.3 cm)
