Description:

Russia, Kiev - tooth; USA, Alaska - tusk; both Early Pliocene to Early Holocene, probably from the earlier part of this period, ca. 5 million years ago to 5000 years ago. A fine pair of juvenile mammoth fossils - a tooth, displaying the highly specialized grinding surface that was adapted to crush woody vegetable matter in ancient forests, and a tusk, a young example that's a reminder of how impressive these animals were when fully grown. Size of tusk: 8.7" W (22.1 cm); 8.55" H (21.7 cm) on included custom stand.
