North America, Native American, found in Dolores County, Colorado, Anasazi, ca. 900 to 1100 CE. A long carved wooden cooking ladle with a rich brown patina. The handle curves slightly, and the scoop cavity is spade shaped. The entire ladle is carved from a single piece of wood. A wonderful utensil, perhaps used to scoop up corneal or delicacies like savory Anasazi beans. Size: 20.5" L (52.1 cm); scoop measures 5" L x 4" W (12.7 cm x 10.2 cm)

Provenance: private Cason collection, Boulder, Colorado, USA, acquired via family descent
