North America, Pliocene to Pleistocene, 100,000 to 20,000 years old. This is a beautiful molar from an adult mastodon (Mammut americanum). It has four extended roots and three large ridges now agatized in shades of white and black. Mastodons, unlike mammoths or contemporary elephants, had cusp-shaped teeth, well-suited to their diet of browsing and grazing. Comes with custom stand. Size: 5" L x 3" W x 3.5" H (12.7 cm x 7.6 cm x 8.9 cm)
