Lot 37
Donated By: Donick Cary, Emmy-Award winning writer/producer (Letterman /Simpsons / Parks and Recreation /Silicon Valley)
Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Vera Cruz, ca. 600 to 900 CE. A hand-built orange terracotta figural vessel depicting a seated nude male figure of relatively plump proportions - his face presenting fleshy jowls and his stomach protruding - with spotted skin covered with lesions formed by puntuated incisions. The proportions of his body are dramatic - note the oversized, out-of-proportion head, rotund belly, and prominent penis/genitals. Although nude, he dons elaborate ear ornaments, a nose ring, beaded necklace, bracelets, and anklets - this extensive decoration suggesting that he is an elder of elite status. The figure sits upon a flared, concave base and wears a flared, peaked headdress/hat which also forms the vessel's rim. There is a hollow central tube for smoke to escape. Size: 7.25" W x 9.875" H (18.4 cm x 25.1 cm)
Provenance: private D. C. collection, California, USA; D. C. is an Emmy Award winning Hollywood writer and Executive Producer, purchased on May 2002 at Arte Primitivo Gallery, new York

Making music happen since 2009
Today, Musack's mission is to give kids and teens a voice through music by providing guitars, drums, and support for music teachers - wherever the need arises.
But back in 2009, Emmy-Award winning writer/producer Donick Cary (Letterman /Simpsons / Parks and Recreation /Silicon Valley) began Musack with a simple vision - raise money to fund musical programs for his hometown high school on Nantucket Island. After a rash of teen suicides on the island, Donick thought about how he and his friends got through their teen years. Music.
Musack continues to make music happen around the world with support from people like you. All lots offered for sale in todays fundraising auction have been donated by celebrities, non-celebrities, and local businesses. Help us help our kids - bid high, bid often!
