Description:

Pre-Columbian, Gulf Coast Mexico, Veracruz (Vera Cruz) culture, Postclassic period, ca. 13th to early 16th century CE. A striking and quite sizable stone crusher or chopper, carved from gray stone with the curved blade polished to a nearly smooth finish from years of use. The side opposite the blade is recessed to place one's hand and five recessed circles function as areas to place fingers with four on one side and one on the other for better gripping. Size: 9.4" L x 2.1" W x 8.8" H (23.9 cm x 5.3 cm x 22.4 cm); 10.5" H (26.7 cm) on included custom stand.
