Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Veracruz culture, ca. 550 to 950 CE. A ceramic incensario, with a long, cylindrical handle terminating in a shamanic zoomorphic/anthropomorphic figure. The figure appears to be playing some kind of musical instrument or possibly eating something. There are remains of reddish pigment along the length of the handle and over the body. Size: 10.5" L x 5" W x 5.2" H (26.7 cm x 12.7 cm x 13.2 cm)

  • Condition: Where the figure meets the handle has been repaired and restored, with overpainting along the break line. This restoration is very well done and difficult to see. Nice deposits on surface.
