Description:

Pre-Columbian, Gulf Coast of Mexico, South-Central Veracruz region, El Faisan area, Veracruz (Vera Cruz) culture, ca. 450 to 600 CE. A lovely, hand-built pottery figure of impressive size depicting a slender woman standing upon wide-set, dramatically arched feet. Highly burnished and decorated with red and black pigment atop her tan-hued body, the woman presents holding both arms flush against her sides while wearing an ankle-length dress adorned with spirals, zigzags, dashes, and cruciform motifs. Her mold-formed face exhibits generously lidded eyes, parted lips beneath a perky nose, and spool-adorned ears, all beneath a thick hat with 2 recessed gaps. Size: 6.9" W x 14.2" H (17.5 cm x 36.1 cm)
