Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Valdivian culture, ca. 3rd millennium BCE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery Venus figure fragment presented with a slender waist, hemispherical breasts held aloft with sinuous arms, and narrow shoulders. Her head exhibits slit-form eyes and mouth, a perky nose, a rounded chin, and a finely incised coiffure topped with a red cap. Size: 1" W x 1.9" H (2.5 cm x 4.8 cm); 2.8" H (7.1 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private southern California, USA collection, acquired in the 1970s to mid-1980s
