Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Earliest Horizon, Valdivian, ca. 2300 to 2000 BCE. A fine Valdivian stone owl effigy with a stylized visage delineated on the upper section and a perched body with abstract wings, raised pectorals, and legs upon the lower. Boldly carved with angular and straight lines from a pale grey limestone, the surface gracefully shows its age with nice mineral deposits. Size: 1" L x 3.4" W x 8.3" H (2.5 cm x 8.6 cm x 21.1 cm); 8.9" H (22.6 cm) on included custom stand.
