Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Valdivian culture, ca. 3500 to 1500 BCE. A hand-built pottery female Venus figure fragment presenting with diagonal, slit-form eyes and a narrow mouth on a trapezoidal face framed with a puffy coiffure. The figure wraps her arms around her chest above the tops of her delineated legs, and traces of original orange-red pigment is still visible around her face. Size: 1.2" W x 2.1" H (3 cm x 5.3 cm); 2.8" H (7.1 cm) on included custom stand.

Minor nicks to body, face, and head, with fading to original pigmentation, softening to some finer details, and light encrustations within some recessed areas. Light earthen deposits throughout, and faint traces of original pigment on and around face.
