Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit,Chinesco, ca. 300 BCE/CE. Perhaps the most desirable of all Nayarit pottery styles. An unusually large Chinesca pottery female standing with legs slightly apart, nude save large nose ring, typical triangular-shaped head, coffee bean eyes and arms wrapped under her small awkwardly placed breasts. Covered in thick deep red slip, now spotted with manganese blooms. A very nice example of a very nice size! Size: 15" H (38.1 cm)

Provenance: Ex-private Scollard collection, acquired before 1990
