Native American, southwestern United States, Santo Domingo Pueblo, ca. mid-20th century CE. A pair of attractive necklaces with a chromatic contrast formed by either light or dark heishi shell beads. The first necklace features creamy beige shell beads that are interspersed with a trio of oblong turquoise stones each flanked with two pairs of silver-plated spheres. The larger necklace exhibits dark orange-brown shell beads with eight greenstone cylinder beads spaced throughout, and a turquoise stone serves as the central pendant. The terminals of both necklaces are fastened with a loop and hook to enable their wearability. Size (darker beads): 16.75" L (42.5 cm); (greenstone): 0.4" W (1 cm); (lighter beads): 15.5" L (39.4 cm); (center stone): 0.6" W (1.5 cm)
