Description:

Northwest Africa, Morocco, Middle Devonian era, ca. 393.3 to 387.7 million years ago. A pair of fossilized trilobites preserved within a stone matrix, featuring a larger Diademaproetus and a smaller Austerops. The rarer Diademaproetus was a small to medium-sized trilobite with a well-defined cephalon (head), characterized by a prominent rostrum (beak-like snout) and pronounced genal spines or projections extending from the head or pygidium. These delicate anatomical features are prone to breakage, making this an exceptional specimen. In contrast, Austerops has a rounded, smooth head, showcasing the diversity of trilobite species. The matrix is mounted in a plastic bell jar display case. Size of matrix: 4.1" L x 2.8" W x 1" H (10.4 cm x 7.1 cm x 2.5 cm); Diademaproetus fossil: 1.6" L x 1.2" W (4.1 cm x 3 cm); domed case: 5.3" Diameter x 4.5" H (13.5 cm x 11.4 cm)
