Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Sican-Lambayeque culture, ca. 1000 to 1350 CE. A set of 2 copper burial maskette appliques of convex form, each exhibiting a stylized feline face with teardrop eyes and bared teeth. Thick layers of patina have formed across the surfaces, and remains of the original burial linens are still present and visible. Size of largest: 1.1" L x 3.875" W x 3.9" H (2.8 cm x 9.8 cm x 9.9 cm)
