Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. Two pairs of earrings shaped from 87% gold (equivalent to 20K+) in crescent forms. The more-petite pair of earrings have tapered terminals that nearly touch, and the larger pair have thick bodies with wide terminals. Each piece exhibits attractive luster that is evocative of the opulence of ancient Rome. Size of largest: 0.72" W x 0.64" H (1.8 cm x 1.6 cm); gold quality: 87% (equivalent to 20K+); total weight: 7.2 grams.

  • Condition: Smaller pair has chips and thick patina. Larger pair have losses to terminals and light tearing around terminal ends. Light abrasions, slight bending to overall forms, and light earthen deposits, otherwise in great condition with nice luster. Not wearable in current condition but could be fashioned with modern ear wires.
