Native American, Southwestern United States, New Mexico, Anasazi or Hohokam, ca. 900 to 1350 CE. A set of 2 hand-carved grinding implements called manos (sing. mano, "hand" in Spanish), each with slightly rounded surfaces suitable for gradual pulverization of softer materials. The mano was an invaluable tool used in conjunction with a grinding platform known as a metate. Size of largest: 12.8" L x 4.25" W x 1" H (32.5 cm x 10.8 cm x 2.5 cm)
