Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Jamacoaque (Jama Coaque) culture, ca. 500 CE. A pair of mold made pottery figures - one a bird-form whistle, a passerine, with what looks like a necklace or some other chest amulet; the other a shamanistic figure transforming into a bird with cape turning into wings and enormous, dangling, snake-like tongue. Size: 2.5" L x 1.6" W x 3.5" H (6.4 cm x 4.1 cm x 8.9 cm)
Provenance: Ex-Adeon Gallery, Chicago, IL, acquired prior to 1970.

- Condition: The shaman figure is missing part of its tail and has some chips to the headdress; the bird is missing the end of its tail and both feet and has an unrepaired crack on either side of its spout and is missing a small attachment from its forehead.
