Description:

Roman Empire, ca. 1st to 3rd century. Two deadly solid lead projectiles used by the Roman military as an intermediate range weapon. Thrown with great accuracy and could be quite lethal. Some recent studies have suggested these were sometimes deliberately drilled or mishappened so they would make a wizzing sound as they approached the enemy. These two examples are inscribed. One is inscribed with "NA" the other with "MIRI" on one side "NA" on other. Size: 1.5" L (3.8 cm) for longest.
