Ancient Greece, Hellenistic Period, ca. 3rd to 1st century BCE. A fine set of earrings formed from either 82.61% gold or 94.33% gold. The first earring features a twisted shank that widens towards the head of the goddess Aphrodite with feminine features shown beneath a neatly-bound coiffure. The larger earring is a minimalist lunate hoop with an adjustable ear wire on top and a couple of danglers which once displayed suspended beads. Size of largest (hoop): 0.6" W x 1" H (1.5 cm x 2.5 cm); gold quality: 82.61% for hoop earring, and 94.33% for twisted earring; total weight: 4.4 grams

  • Condition: Slight bending, indentations, and softening to some finer details, otherwise both are intact and very good. Hoop earring is missing beads once attached to danglers, and original ear wire still moves within housing. Both have nice patina throughout.
