China, Tang Dynasty, ca. 618 to 907 CE. A pair of pottery animals, made to be grave decoration - a pig in a lying down pose, and a sheep in a seated pose. These pottery figures, alongside dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of others, would have been placed in tombs to recreate the lifestyle of the deceased. Size: 4" L x 1.9" W x 1.2" H (10.2 cm x 4.8 cm x 3 cm)
