Pre-Columbian, Central Coast of Peru, Chancay, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A set of 2 textile sash fragments that are tightly-woven from either camelid wool or natural cotton fibers. The beige and brown sash features diamond-shaped windows with abstract birds filling the spaces, and the more colorful sash depicts abstract serpentine creatures in hues of red, green, cream, yellow, and brown. Size of largest: 21.5" L x 5" W (54.6 cm x 12.7 cm)
