Pre-Columbian, Central Coast of Peru, Chancay, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A set of 2 Chancay textile pieces - a sash fragment and a belt - created from tightly-woven fibers of either natural cotton or camelid wool. The beige and brown sash fragment is adorned with dozens of petite, abstract birds, and the belt exhibits additional abstract avian patterns in hues of gold, espresso, and crimson. Size of largest (belt): 40" L x 1.4" W (101.6 cm x 3.6 cm)

  • Condition: Sash is a fragment of a larger textile composition, with minor tearing and loosening to some fibers; belt is intact. Each with minor staining and creasing, otherwise in great condition. Nice preservation to colors and avian motifs.
