Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, Chancay culture, Peru, ca. 1200 to 1450 CE. A pair of pottery objects showing different styles in Chancay culture. Size of vessel: 6.4" W x 5.35" H (16.3 cm x 13.6 cm)

One of them is a small figure that looks simian, with a rope-like belt and painted details of face and shirt. This figure looks like the kind wrapped inside of mummy bundles in this culture. The second is a vessel in the form of a corn cob, with twin small simian-like figures, each pierced through as if the vessel was perhaps made to be hung from something. The spout is in the form of a "lord" with a large headdress.
