Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central Coast of Peru, Chancay, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A gathering of 2 textile slings known as hondas (sing. honda) formed from tightly-braided camelid fibers in hues of brown, cream, beige, and crimson. The first weapon features diamond and linear motifs along the strands as well as zigzags on the main body, and the larger has ringed strands and zigzagging red bands on the main sling body. Size of largest: 93" L x 1.75" W (236.2 cm x 4.4 cm)
