Pre-Columbian, Central Coast of Peru, Chancay culture, ca. 1000 to 1250 CE. A set of 2 cotton textile fragments, each of rectangular form and bearing a quartet of abstract faces among fields of geometric forms in vibrant hues of coral, blue, gray, brown, and white. The faces of each textile fragment are separated in pairs by a column of zigzagging stripes, and each lateral triangular space contains a single circular 'eye' pattern. Size (each textile): 7.5" W x 7.5" H (19 cm x 19 cm); (each frame): 0.625" L x 8.375" W x 8.375" H (1.6 cm x 21.3 cm x 21.3 cm)
