Pre-Columbian, Bolivia, Tiahuanaco (Tiwanaku), ca. 100 to 500 CE. A pair of hand-woven baskets made from coiled bundles of leaves or grasses with splints stitched on top, dyed to form stepped motifs. These baskets were probably preserved for many centuries in a cave due to the arid climate. Size of larger: 6" Diameter x 4.75" H (15.2 cm x 12.1 cm)
