Description:

Latin America, Central America, Guatemala, ca. early to mid 20th century CE. A fine pair of hand-carved wooden slingshots in the form of a crested bird and an armadillo, respectively. The avian slingshot has a petite beak, folded wings, and a drooping tail, all colored in yellow pigment with areas of green accent pigment. The armadillo slingshot boasts four nubbin-shaped legs, an ovoid body with incised plate segments, a triangular head with incised eyes, and a hanging tail. Each "ondilla" (Spanish for slingshot) has a projecting rectangular element with six attachment prongs, and both are covered in lustrous brown patina. Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size of largest (armadillo): 1.5" W x 6.25" H (3.8 cm x 15.9 cm); 7" H (17.8 cm) on included custom stand.
