Description:

Southeast Asia, Burma, Ava Period, ca. 16th to 17th centuries CE. This is a trio of bronze gilded Buddhas, depicted in the classic Ava style, with branches from the Bodhi tree, the Tree of Enlightenment where Siddharta Gautama had his revelations that led to him becoming Buddha, extending from the top of each head. The Buddhas have serene faces and sit on simple thrones; this style lacks the ornate decoration of those from, for example, Thailand. The Ava period was a time of transition in Burmese society, when artisans began to experiment with their own styles of Buddhist art, moving away from the Indian inspiration they had previously adhered to. Comes with custom stand. Size of largest (they are very close in size): 1.15" W x 3.5" H (2.9 cm x 8.9 cm)
