Description:

Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate Period, 21st to 25th Dynasty, ca. 1070 to 664 BCE. A hand-built faience ushabti standing in mummiform with fused legs while holding a pair of farming hoes in hands crossed atop the chest. The figure is covered in a yellow-green glaze with black pigment used to emphasize areas of the face and farming tools. Black pigment also forms the inscription atop the legs which reads, "The illuminate, the Osiris, Bak-en-Khonsu, divine father of Amun..." Size: 1.1" L x 2.2" W x 6.1" H (2.8 cm x 5.6 cm x 15.5 cm)

Provenance: private Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA collection; ex-Minerva Gallery; ex-Benjamin Vega, California, USA, acquired in 2006 to 2007; ex-Gene and Virginia George, brought to the USA from 1961 to 1966
