North America, United States, Iowa, ca. early to mid 20th century CE. A handsome collection of three silver plated pens made by Sheaffer. The largest is a fountain pen with a 14K gold nib tip. The other two are ball points. All have gold plated clips, a textured surface of incised diamond patterns, and are stamped with "STERLING SILVER SHEAFFER USA.” These are luxury pens with elegant designs that are still popular today. The Sheaffer fountain pens were advertised as filling "instantly from any inkwell, with one touch of a finger" making that type both practical and extravagant. Size largest: 5.125" L x .375" W (13 cm x 1 cm) quality of silver: 92% to 94.23%; quality of gold: 35.5% to 58% (equivalent to 8K+ to 14K); total weight of all: 71.2 grams

  • Condition: Slender pen is missing the ink cartridge/nib and the clip is loose. Dark patina to silver. Ink cartridges could be replaced on the ball point pens to make functional. Fountain pen has not been tested for functionality. Surface wear and scratches on all.
