Description:

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Valdivian culture, ca. 3500 to 1500 BCE. A set of 3 hand-built pottery Venus figures depicting characteristic feminine forms with highly burnished surfaces and hues of brown and red. The shortest figure is intact with attenuated arms held beneath ample breasts and cropped coiffure. The second figure bears a centrally parted coiffure and stands atop one leg, and the tallest figure has a more rectangular hairstyle with breasts flush beneath her arms. Size of largest: 0.75" W x 2.8" H (1.9 cm x 7.1 cm)

These pieces have been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and have been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full report will accompany purchase.

Provenance: ex-private Valencia, California, USA collection acquired before 1990
