Pre-Columbian, Western Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A lovely trio of dishes and bowls created by Jalisco artisans in ancient West Mexico. All have an attractive bichrome finish of cream ground with red rims. All show fabulous manganese blooms and what appear to be negative resist wax designs on their undersides. Size: smallest bowl measures 4-1/4" in diameter x 1-3/4"H; two shallower dishes measure 4-3/4" in diameter x 1-1/4"H and 4-3/4" in diameter x 1"H Provenance: Ex-private Pearson collection, Denver, CO; acquired at auction.
