Description:

Native American, Southwestern United States, Hopi, ca. 1920s to 1930s CE. A set of 3 hand-built and stone-burnished pottery cylinders, each with an attractive motif painted in hues of black and red on the light-orange ground. The first petite vessel features crescent-shaped protrusions, perhaps pincers, extending down from the rim, and the second vessel exhibits curved and triangular forms reminiscent of talons, beaks, and feathers. The largest cylinder features abstract columnar forms with a broad tendril spiraling off the right side. Size of largest: 3.85" Diameter x 8.3" H (9.8 cm x 21.1 cm)
