Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A set of 3 hand-built pottery gingerbread figures, so called because of their planar profile. The first figure exhibits applied eyes and a dark red surface hue while the 2 larger figures - a male a female pair - are incised with delicate striations to create their minimalist clothing. Size of largest: 1" L x 3.6" W x 7.125" H (2.5 cm x 9.1 cm x 18.1 cm); 7.625" H (19.4 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: ex-collection of the late Peter Arnovick, San Francisco, California, USA, acquired before 1995
