Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Chupicuaro culture, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. An attractive trio of Chupicuaro pottery vessels: a redware, round-bottomed jar with liberal remains of black-painted stripes, a redware tripod dish with an incised rim and zoomorphic legs, and a buffware tripod vessel with carinated walls and pierced legs. Size of larger tripod: 8" Diameter x 3" H (20.3 cm x 7.6 cm); of jar: 6.5" Diameter x 4.7" H (16.5 cm x 11.9 cm)

  • Condition: All have been professionally repaired with restoration and repainting over break lines; all done very well and difficult to notice. All have some chipping to rims and light surface wear commensurate with age as shown. Otherwise, nice presentations with light earthen deposits and some manganese deposits in areas.
