Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Chupicuaro, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. An ensemble of 3 hand-built and stone-burnished pottery bowls from ancient West Mexico. The first bowl features tightly-spiraling bands across the exterior while the second bowl features a trio of polychrome-painted rattle legs along the underside. The largest bowl is of hemispherical form and showcases diagonal red stripes outlined in black around the shoulder. Size of largest: 7" W x 3.5" H (17.8 cm x 8.9 cm)

  • Condition: Tripod bowl with repairs across body, with resurfacing and overpainting along infill material and break lines; remaining 2 bowls are intact. Each with minor fading to pigment, scattered nicks and spalls, and light abrasions, otherwise in nice condition. Great preservation to decorative motifs across exterior surfaces.
