This lot includes three finely carved bone pieces from Chandraketugarh, a site located beside the Bidyadhari River in West Bengal that along with its surrounding area historians suggest could be the place known to ancient Greek and Roman writers as Gangaridai. Chandraketturgarh is Bengal's richest archaeological treasure trove that dates back to the 6th century BCE. First, we have a finely carved miniature bone carving depicting a goddess.
