Lot 275
Roman, Imperial period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A pretty unguentaria, a small glass pouring vessel with a very narrow neck to prevent evaporation of the precious liquids within. A delicate strap handle descends from the rim to the shoulder of the vessel. After the invention of blown glass in the first century CE, glass became easy to mass produce as well as cheaper, and so glass items entered everyday Roman life in the majority of households. A nice, delicate form with some iridescence near the bottom part of the body. Size: 1.7" W x 5.05" H (4.3 cm x 12.8 cm)
