Description:

Southeast Asia, Thailand, Sawankhalok (Sawankhalok) culture, Sukhothai Period, ca. 14th to 16th century CE. A well-constructed pottery pedestal dish with a fine minimalist linear motif decorating its basin. The dish is dramatically set atop a conical foot with a flat bottom. The basin is wide with flaring walls, which provides it a modest depth. A finely incised linear motif adorns the interior walls with a crosshatch scroll framed at its top, while the bottom displays narrow, tightly spaced banding. The vessel's rim is lightly rolled, adding to its elegant finish. A gorgeous craquelure accents the inner-most section of its basin. A very nicely conserved example in exemplary form! Size: 8.6" W x 5" H (21.8 cm x 12.7 cm)
