Description:

Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Teotihuacan, ca. 3rd to 7th century CE. A delightful pottery articulated "doll" with individually mold-made arms and legs joined to the torso and head. His characteristically triangular face presents an expressive visage comprised of coffee bean shaped eyes, a relatively naturalistic nose, slightly parted lips, and skillfully contoured facial planes - all topped by a fringed coiffure or headdress. Decorated in the manner of an elite personage, he wears large ear spools and an elaborate 'beaded' pectoral. Nice details delineate the fingers, toes, as well as pectoral/abdominal muscles - and bright white pigment remains on the face and pectoral. Size: 3.5" H (8.9 cm); 4" H (10.2 cm) on included custom stand.
