Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Teotihuacan, ca. 3rd to 7th century CE. A delightful pottery articulated 'doll' of a lordly figure with individually made arms and legs joined to the torso and head. Decorated in the manner of an elite personage with earspools, his characteristically triangular head features an expressive face comprised of coffee bean shaped eyes, a broad nose, slightly parted lips - all topped by a large, rectangular headdress. Traces of white pigments are visible on his eyes and earrings, suggesting he may have been vibrantly painted at one time. Size: 4.8" L x 1.6" W (12.2 cm x 4.1 cm); 6" H (15.2 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: ex-Stein collection, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, USA, acquired prior to 2010
