Description:

Pre-Columbian, Valley of Mexico, Teotihuacan Period III, Early Classic Period, ca. 250 to 550 CE. A charming bowl standing on two nub-like feet. The bowl is deep, with steep, thin sides that are a testament to the skill of the artisan who made it. Two long, curved handles in the form of wings project from the upper sides of the bowl, each with a grooved surface that gives the impression of feathers. The elongated head of a bird emerges from the rim of the vessel, depicted with a large crest atop it and a long, hooked beak that looks ideal for catching fish. Size: 8.9" W x 4.2" H (22.6 cm x 10.7 cm)
